November 9, 2009 will mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. For Berlin, which was an international political hot spot for decades, this is a very special occasion.

Rainer Bangert, hotel manager at the five-star hotel The Westin Grand Berlin, has an exceptional idea in store for his guests: a section of the original Berlin Wall has been standing in front of the hotel in Friedrichstrasse since January 9, 2009 and souvenir pieces may be chipped out of it. Up to 1989, this section of the Berlin Wall formed part of the stretch in southern Berlin. It is 1 meter wide, 3.70 meter high, weighs 2.7 tonnes and was redesigned by the artist Jacob Wagner in 2007 with the title "Metropolis".

All guests who book the "Fall of the Berlin Wall" offer at the Westin Grand Berlin may take a hammer and chisel to the concrete and chip out a little piece of their own to take home with them, 20 years after the wall fell. Apart from the piece of Berlin Wall, the package includes:
